Science Career Insiders

Are you a freshman thinking about a science-related career but not sure where to start? Maybe wondering how people actually get to be scientists or work in a science-related area? Many of us have questions like this but no family or friends with experience we could ask. The aim of the SCI program is to help freshman with questions like this get the information and resources needed to explore science career paths and find an opportunity to work at a real research lab here at MSU or nearby. 2013 UURAF Date Confirmed

Students planning to present at the 2013 University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum (UURAF) can breathe a little easier. The Forum will take place on Friday 12 April 2013 as originally scheduled.

Planned renovations to the MSU Union scheduled for mid April created the possibility that UURAF would need to relocate or else move to an earlier date in the semester. Confirmation of a later start date for construction will make it possible for UURAF to be held in the Union on the original date. "We know students intending to present at UURAF will definitely be able to use the additional two weeks to prepare," says Assistant Director Megan Shannahan. "We're so pleased that a solution was found that allows us to remain in the Union this year."

2013 marks the fifteenth anniversary of the university-wide research fair. Approximately 560 students presented at the 2012 UURAF. For more information, please contact the Undergraduate Research Office by email at ugrsrch@msu.edu or by phone at 517-884-4384.
