My favorite part of research was getting to share my findings with other people during a poster presentation. Research becomes more meaningful when shared, and so, I was very happy that I got to share my results with other faculty members and the public in a summer symposium.

Research Topic: Climate Changes Impact on Soil and the Micro-Organisms Graduation Year: 2018

Climate change is expected to have an impact on rainfall. Scientists anticipate both more dry periods and larger storms. This type of precipitation pattern will result in periods of heavy rainfall that happen less frequently. Hepsiba Chepngeno’s research focused on how these changes may impact the soil and the micro-organisms, or microbial communities, they contain. Researchers need to study these microbial communities because they play an important role in soil fertility and sustainability
