Research Topic: The Effects of COVID-19 on Migrant Farmworkers Graduation Year: 2025

Undergraduate Research in the Neighborhoods

The goal of Abigail’s research was to discover the true effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Latinx migrant farm workers. Specifically, Abigail focused on the disparities in health outcomes, access to healthcare, and labor protections. Her review emphasizes the need for policy solutions that address the structural barriers faced by Latinx migrant farm workers and the systemics inequalities that have historically left them vulnerable to exploitation. She expressed how the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the vulnerabilities of Latinx migrant farm workers; and found some possible solutions to bridge that gap. Expanding access to healthcare, ensuring labor protections, providing language services, and overall addressing the systemic inequalities that have exploited and disadvantaged Latinx migrant farm workers for decades are just a few.
