Rethinking how to measure mood using the Day Reconstruction Method (DRM), Sam was looking to discover if the context of DRM affects the response that people provided. The DRM is a method designed to measure a person’s experience by collecting information about one’s activities on a given day. Sam collected data through questionnaires in a double-blind study of 404 participants, with two conditions: (1) participants report on their personality and then complete a standard DRM; (2) participants complete a measure of personality and then are asked how they were feeling at a single moment on the previous day. Simple regression analysis revealed that multiple situational variables interacted with conditions to predict positive affect with situational variables being a stronger predictor of affect in the DRM condition.
